I used a graduated purple filter and a number three graduated neutral density filter on the storm clouds to help portray that frigid feeling I felt when photographing this scene of Redfish Lake Creek. Because of the amount of snowfall each year here in the Sawtooth's, traveling in the backcountry in most areas can be extremely difficult or next to impossible.
Directions: Traveling north on highway 75, you will pass Alturas Lake Rd. and Pettit Lake Rd.on your left. Continue on past the Sawtooth Hatchery on your left about 1.2 miles and you will pass the turn-off for Redfish Lake Rd. on your left. There is parking on both sides of the road just past the turn-off. Walk back south across the bridge on the west side of the road. You will have to stand on the bridge in the road for the shot above. Just watch out for traffic coming across the bridge esspecially during the winter months. Best time to Photograph: The creek runs east to west so a sunrise or sunset shot would work.
