I have combined my love of the arts into my photography and created my style I like to call "Painting with Light". Combining natural lighting with the careful use of a special program putting emphasis on detail, I created these stunning images with a "painting like" effect. From a distance, they look very much like paintings. It isn't until you get closer and closer to the image, when it becomes apparent that it is infact a photograph. A creative and unique approach to an artistic photographic style.

Directions: From the town of Stanley, go west on highway 21 about 6 miles and turn left on Stanley Lake Rd. #455. Continue on #455 for 2 miles. There is a turn-off on the left that will take you into additional camp sites and an upper lake view of McGown Peak. Continue straight for a lower lake view of McGown Peak and trailhead. Stanley Lake Rd. #455 is closed in the winter due to the deep snow. If you want to go back to the lake area during winter for pictures of McGown Peak, you will need to hike in on foot. Snow levels on Stanley Lake Rd. can reach over 4 feet. Off the main road, I have plowed through areas of snow up to my chest and I am 6' 2" tall. Backcountry travel during the winter months can be extremely difficult due to the high levels of snow. Best time to Photograph: My preferred time to photograph McGown Peak is during sunrise, but you can shoot at sunset as well. Photo © copyright by Erik and Melissa Barnes.
